Trump Media posts $238 million loss and revises crypto strategy: focus shifts to media business

Trump Трамп криптовалюты 2025

Trump Media's financial results for the second quarter came under pressure: the company's net loss reached $238 million. This is prompting management to reconsider its approach to managing digital reserves, placing emphasis on strengthening the core focus—the media platforms Truth Social, Truth+, and Truth.Fi.

The key factor behind the losses was unrealized losses on digital assets and related securities, which amounted to $190.4 million. Amid cryptocurrency market volatility, this significantly impacted the balance sheet. However, notably, the company not only did not reduce its bitcoin positions but increased them. As of June 30, the firm held 9,477.16 BTC under management, and by July 31, this figure had grown to 12,062 BTC.

Analytical Perspective

The decision to buy more bitcoin amid losses looks like a strategic move aimed at long-term accumulation rather than short-term speculation. Nevertheless, the shift in crypto strategy toward the media business signals an attempt to reduce dependence on volatile assets. In my understanding, this is a reasonable balance: maintaining exposure to BTC for potential growth, but with a priority on stable operating income. The only question is how aggressive the reduction of crypto reserves will be in the coming quarters—the market will be closely watching every step.
