Trump Media is reviewing its crypto strategy: a $238 million loss and new priorities

Trump Трамп криптовалюты 2025

Trump Media's financial results for the second quarter came under pressure: the net loss amounted to $238 million. However, the key factor is not operational issues, but the volatility of digital assets. Unrealized losses on cryptocurrencies and related instruments reached $190.4 million, which effectively determined the final figure. The company's management has already announced its intention to revise its approach to the digital treasury, shifting the focus to developing the core media business — Truth Social, Truth+, and Truth.Fi.

Bitcoin strategy: purchases continue

Despite the losses, the company not only held its positions but also increased its holdings of the first cryptocurrency. As of June 30, it managed 9,477.16 BTC, and by July 31, the volume had grown to 12,062 BTC. This indicates that management views the current drawdown as temporary and continues to accumulate the asset, likely betting on long-term growth.

It is telling that the decision to revise the strategy does not mean abandoning bitcoin. Rather, it is about a more balanced allocation of capital: reducing speculative exposure and strengthening cash flows from media platforms. Truth.Fi, as the financial division, will likely become a central element of the new model, integrating cryptocurrency services with traditional products.

My analysis: Trump Media's situation reflects a general trend — corporations entering the crypto industry are forced to adapt to market cyclicality. A $238 million loss with $190 million in unrealized losses is not a catastrophe, but rather an accounting reality. Continued bitcoin purchases indicate confidence in the asset's long-term potential, but treasury restructuring could reduce reporting volatility. The question is whether the media business can generate enough operating profit to offset the risks of digital investments. For now, this looks like a bet on BTC growth over the next 12–18 months.
