Trump Media posts a $238 million loss and revises its cryptocurrency strategy

Trump Трамп криптовалюты 2025

Trump Media Corporation ended the second quarter with a net loss of $238 million, a direct consequence of aggressive expansion into digital assets. As my analysis of the financial statements shows, the key pressure factor was unrealized losses on cryptocurrencies and related instruments, reaching $190.4 million. This is a signal that even media giants with political backgrounds are not immune to market volatility.

In response to financial pressure, the company's management announced its intention to reconsider its approach to managing the digital treasury. The main focus is shifting toward the core media business — the Truth Social, Truth+, and Truth.Fi platforms. This is a pragmatic decision: instead of speculative asset operations, the company is concentrating on monetizing its audience, which looks like a more sustainable strategy in the long term.

Notably, despite the losses, Trump Media not only did not reduce but actually increased its bitcoin reserves. As of June 30, it held 9,477.16 BTC, and by July 31, this figure had grown to 12,062 BTC. Such a move demonstrates faith in the long-term potential of the first cryptocurrency, even when short-term conditions are working against the company.

From my expert perspective, here we observe a classic conflict between tactical liquidity and strategic vision. Increasing the bitcoin position amid losses could be both an attempt to average down the entry price and a deliberate hedge against inflationary risks. However, revising treasury policy in favor of the core business is a signal to the market: the company is learning from its mistakes and is ready to adapt to realities rather than follow the hype.
