Truth API brings Trump Media its first million: monetization of Trump's posts reaches a new level

Donald Trump's media company has found an unexpectedly profitable niche: its early access service for Truth Social posts has already generated over $1 million in revenue. This is confirmed in the latest financial report, and I consider this move one of the company's most pragmatic decisions in recent quarters.

How Truth API Works

Launched in early August, the Truth API product provides subscribers with priority access to posts from the platform's most influential accounts, including the former president himself. More than ten companies operating in the high-frequency trading sector have already signed up. Subscription rates range from $60,000 to $100,000 per month, which, given the current number of clients, has generated total revenue exceeding $1 million.

Interim CEO Kevin McGern, during the quarterly earnings call, described Truth API as a project in its "early stages" but already showing impressive momentum. He also confirmed that the company is in active negotiations with AI developers, and a separate, more affordable tier for retail traders will soon be introduced.

Reaction from Regulators and Politicians

Such monetization has not gone unnoticed by lawmakers. Congressman Jamie Raskin has sent an official request demanding full disclosure of the service's subscriber list. Democrats are pushing for the SEC to initiate an investigation, pointing to a potential conflict of interest: selling access to information capable of influencing markets is directly tied to statements made by the sitting president.

Financial Realities Amid Ambitions

Despite the success of Truth API, Trump Media's core business remains deeply unprofitable. The net loss for the second quarter was $238 million—more than ten times the figure from the previous year. Revenue grew 89% to $1.7 million, but the bulk of the losses is tied to the revaluation of bitcoin and stocks on the company's balance sheet.

Analyst Markus Thielen from 10x Research gave a harsh assessment: the company operates more like a crypto fund than a traditional media business. Notably, Trump Media declined to jointly launch a prediction markets platform with Crypto.com, which fits the broader trend of winding down crypto initiatives under McGern's leadership.

Outlook and Risks

Against this backdrop, the company's shares have lost 9% over the past five days. Investors are now closely watching whether Truth API can become a stable source of revenue, as management promises. Ahead also lies the pending merger with energy company TAE Technologies, which McGern had planned to complete several months ago.

My conclusion: Truth API is a brilliantly simple yet ethically questionable tool. The company has found a way to capitalize on real-time informational advantage, but regulatory pressure and dependence on a single author make this business model extremely vulnerable. In the long run, this is more of a tactical victory than a strategic solution.
