The native OKX X Layer network has captured more than 80% of the blockchain turnover of xStocks.
OKX's native layer-2 network, X Layer, has made a rapid leap, increasing its share of the xStocks platform's blockchain volume from zero to an impressive 80% in just four weeks. This surge is not just statistics, but a clear signal of where the tokenized assets market is heading and what role infrastructure plays in it.
X Layer, built on OP Stack and connected to Agglayer, with OKB as its gas token, is becoming a key link in the OKX ecosystem. The exchange's founder and CEO, Star Xu, emphasizes in his posts that tokenized assets naturally migrate to where liquidity, users, and applications already exist. Tokenized stocks are just the first, albeit telling, example of such a shift.
My analysis shows that this growth is a direct result of the synergy between the centralized exchange and on-chain infrastructure. OKX launched spot trading for tokenized stocks in July 2026, offering price exposure to stocks and ETFs. The product, operating on xStocks, supports deposits and withdrawals via X Layer and Solana, with trading pairs denominated in USDT available around the clock.
From Trading Venue to On-Chain Infrastructure
X Layer's architecture allows combining the advantages of blockchain with the existing OKX ecosystem. A user can purchase a supported asset on the exchange, withdraw it to the network, and continue interacting through their own wallet and on-chain applications. This removes barriers and makes on-chain finance (DeFi) more accessible to the mass user.
It is important to emphasize that the 80% figure refers specifically to X Layer's share of xStocks volume, not the entire global tokenized stocks market. However, the dynamics clearly demonstrate the network's rapid adoption within this product. According to L2Beat, the volume of assets secured in X Layer is approximately $118 million, confirming growing interest in the network.
Liquidity Follows Users
The growth of X Layer's share in xStocks volume is a vivid example of how liquidity follows users. OKX already has a global base, liquidity, a wallet, and developer infrastructure. X Layer connects these elements into a unified on-chain environment.
The network is evolving as infrastructure for tokenized assets, RWAs, derivatives, stablecoin payments, and other services. The speed at which the share grew from zero to over 80% in four weeks shows how quickly existing financial activity can transition to an on-chain environment when convenient integration and liquidity are available.
My verdict: This is not just the success of a single product, but a strategic move by OKX to build a bridge between CeFi and DeFi. X Layer is becoming the technological foundation for this transition, and I expect that in the coming months we will see similar examples in other segments, from RWAs to derivatives. This is a trend worth watching closely.
