Crypto-ETFs record record inflows: $2.6 billion in a week — the highest since October
American exchange-traded funds for Bitcoin and Ethereum demonstrated the strongest weekly capital inflow in the last ten months. During the period from August 17 to 21, investors poured a total of $2.6 billion into these instruments, marking the best result since October 2025.
The bulk of the inflow went to Bitcoin ETFs, which attracted $1.92 billion. Ethereum funds added $697.18 million, fully offsetting the outflow of $391.96 million recorded the previous week. This is an important signal: institutional players are once again showing an appetite for risk, not only for "digital gold" but also for second-tier assets.
Record ETF inflow in 10 months
Bitcoin funds showed positive momentum for five consecutive trading days. The peak came on August 20, when $606 million flowed into the instruments in a single day—the largest daily inflow since May. Trading activity also surged sharply: the weekly trading volume in Bitcoin ETFs reached $22.15 billion, nearly three times higher than the previous week's figures.
Notably, this surge occurred after a prolonged correction period. The cumulative net inflow into Bitcoin funds peaked in October 2025 at $62.77 billion, but has since declined to $53.71 billion. The current week clearly reversed the trend, although both ETF classes remain in negative territory year-to-date: investors withdrew $2.91 billion from Bitcoin funds and $177.93 million from Ethereum funds.
Asset value growth exceeded inflow by 9 times
However, inflows alone do not explain the full picture. The total value of assets under management for both fund categories rose by approximately $23 billion, while investors contributed only $2.6 billion. The difference is enormous—a ninefold excess. This means the main driver is the revaluation of the coins themselves amid a market rally. Excluding new contributions, the value of Bitcoin funds increased by 22.9%, and Ethereum funds by 29.2%. The lion's share of this growth occurred over three trading days—from August 19 to 21. At the time of analysis, Bitcoin was trading around $76,230, and Ethereum at $2,406.
Altcoin funds continue to grow
Investor interest was not limited to the two flagship assets. Altcoin funds also recorded a net inflow for the week. The leader was the XRP ETF with $39.78 million and a record weekly trading volume of $271.74 million. In second place were Solana-based products with $28.34 million in inflows, marking the eighth consecutive week of positive momentum. Chainlink funds attracted $13.35 million—the second-best result since their launch in December 2025.
Hyperliquid (HYPE) ETFs added $3.89 million, and their total assets under management rose to a record $360.39 million. Closing the list are Dogecoin funds with a modest but positive result of $654,416.
My view: the current dynamics confirm that institutional money is returning to cryptocurrency, but with selectivity. Asset value growth outpacing capital inflows indicates that the market is driven not only by new injections but also by confidence in long-term revaluation. However, for a sustained bullish trend, consolidation of inflows over several weeks is needed, not a one-off spike.
